About Me
My name is Brandon Harrison and I have been a newscast producer for the past 7.5 years.
I currently produce the Noon and 5 p.m. news broadcasts for WKRG News 5 in my hometown of Mobile, Alabama.
For the past five years, I have been responsible for creating informative and engaging broadcasts; including writing scripts and editing video for my programs. Along with those responsibilities, I also regularly communicate with news sources and news crews during important and sometimes dangerous situations.
During my time with WKRG, I have been responsible for every newscast from 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Being a producer means having to multitask and making tight deadlines, often having to change scripts and broadcasts as we are on the air.
Before moving to Mobile, I was a morning show producer for WLBT News in Jackson, Mississippi. During my time with 3 On Your Side, I produced every morning newscast. I started out as an associate producer, producing the 6 a.m. weekend newscast and the 4:30 a.m. newscast before being promoted to a full time producer. I started producing the Noon News and Midday Mississippi. Later on, I switched over to WLBT's sister station: WDBD FOX40, producing the 8 a.m. and 7 a.m. show. After that, I became the 5 a.m. producer back on WLBT. Everyday I write VOs and VO/SOTs for the morning show and I also route and communicate with Skycopter 3, Mississippi's only news and traffic helicopter.
I attended the University of Southern Mississippi from 2013 until I graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Spanish.
